Dear Barnard Community,
As we embark on the new semester, we wish to provide even more accessible information about safety measures and guidelines related to protests. As President Rosenbury shared in her December 22, 2023 message:
Protests are fundamental to our democracy, and they can play a vital role in the overall campus experience at Barnard so long as they do not disrupt our learning environment or threaten the safety of our community.
As part of this effort, we have launched a dedicated webpage that includes the following:
- Safety Tips
- Rules for the Maintenance of Public Order
- Event Policies
- Choosing Assembly Locations for Specific Events
- Application Deadlines for Specific Events
- Procedures for Addressing Noncompliance
Please note that the application deadline for authorized protests during the February 2 Inauguration ceremony is January 19, 2024. This deadline will not be extended.
We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines. We will keep the website updated as more information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Kelli Murray
