On September 1, 2022, Belinda Archibong, assistant professor of economics at Barnard, became a visiting scholar with the Opportunity & Inclusive Growth Institute at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Established in 2017, the Institute’s goal is to “conduct and promote research that will increase economic opportunity and inclusive growth for all Americans and help the Federal Reserve achieve its maximum employment mandate.” Visiting scholars perform high-level, peer-reviewed research and are chosen based on a proposal connected to the Institute's objective.
Professor Archibong is committed to gaining a more comprehensive understanding of how the economy functions for all segments of American society. She looks beyond general economic metrics to assess how diverse populations are faring within the U.S. economy while exploring the comparative effectiveness of policies that seek to enhance inclusion and opportunity in the workplace.
