On January 13, 2022, Elizabeth Ananat, Mallya Professor of Women and Economics, was announced as a member of the Russell Sage Foundation’s Visiting Scholar Class of 2022-2023. The Russell Sage Foundation (RSF) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal of original empirical research by established and emerging scholars.
The 14 members of this year’s Visiting Scholar Class will pursue research to strengthen social sciences and “improve social and living conditions in the United States” while in residence at the RSF in New York City. Professor Ananat was selected for this honor for her analysis of survey data from 1,000 low-wage service workers with young children. Her goal is to better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by exploring income and job changes, material hardships, and support from established and pandemic-specific government programs.
