On November 1, 2021, José Moya, professor of history, published a book review in the Hispanic American Historical Review, assessing Kirwin Shaffer’s work titled Anarchists of the Caribbean: Countercultural Politics and Transnational Networks in the Age of US Expansion. The book, according to Professor Moya, follows a “laudable research trajectory,” by focusing on the anarchist movements in the Caribbean, connecting nicely with the author’s previous monographs on Puerto Rico and Cuba. Professor Moya asserts that the book’s most important contribution is its circum-Caribbean scope, specifically its addition of Panama. Overall, he found the work “eye-opening” and “intellectually rewarding.”
