In June 2024, it was announced that William Sharpe, professor of English, was awarded a Fermor Fellowship. The prestigious residency fellowship will begin in the fall at the Leigh Fermor House. During this fellowship, Sharpe will work on his newest project, Forging Ahead: Walking, Writing and the Making of Memories.
Sharpe’s research focuses on Victorian and Modern literature, which he showcases in his most recently published book, The Art of Walking: A History in 100 Images. He has also been recognized by fellowships with Guggenheim, NEH, and Fulbright.
