Page types and their components

Barnard has about 10 different types of pages available to content managers. Most page types can be used across all of Barnard’s sites.

For use on all sites

  • Basic Page Example: A simple page for static content like “About Us” as well as for news and event listings.
  • Chaptered Page Example: If you have a LOT of content that you need to keep on a single page, this is one option.
  • Article Page Example: If you have news to share about your department, center, or office, this is the page type to use. It supports more visual content, including video, and can be listed in news components.
  • Event Page Example: Use this page type to add the date, time, location info for events hosted by your department. Then showcase your new event through one of the event listing components.
  • Events Landing Example: Use this page type if you have MANY department events. For more flexibility in displaying events, use one of the event listing components that are available on other page types.
  • Profile Page Example: Faculty and staff use this page type to share their contact info, department affiliation, professional interests, and links to their appearances in the news. Profiles will show up automatically on people landing pages.
  • People Landing Example: This is the only page type that allows you to automatically add a list of people in your department or office, but in order for them to show up, they must have a profile page. (Note: This example is hosted on barnard.edu and therefore includes ALL profiles.) This page type also includes a “Featured People” component so that you can choose who shows up by name, with up to five people in one block. Add another “Featured People” component to add more.

Specifically for mini sites

These page types are designed to work with Barnard’s mini sites or subdomains:

  • Mini Site Landing Page Example: Showcase your department to prospective students with this page type. It offers the most options for visual components. It’s probably already set up as your department’s or center’s home page. 
  • Mini Site Detail Page Example: Automatically show your department’s course listings in the college catalog by using the Courseleaf component. This component is available only on this page type, which is otherwise similar to a basic page.
  • News Listing Example: Show your most recent 20 news items plus a button to load more. For more flexibility in displaying news, use one of the news listing components that are available on other page types.

Specifically for the Barnard.edu main site

  • Landing Page Example: Showcase your program or office to prospective students with this page type. It offers the most options for visual components.
