On January 17, 2022, Colin Wayne Leach, professor of psychology and Africana studies, published an article in Social Issues and Policy Review, which he co-authored with Cátia P. Teixeira. The paper, titled “Understanding Sentiment Toward ‘Black Lives Matter,'” examines the phrase “Black Lives Matter” as an ethical critique of democratic society while exploring the ways in which the BLM movement has revealed deep social and political rifts.
