The American Institute of Architects (AIA) recently announced their 2021 College of Fellows, highlighting members who have been newly elevated in rank. Among the newly named Fellows is chair of the Department of Architecture Karen Fairbanks, a member of the AIA's New York chapter. The institute carefully selects its Fellows based on members' longstanding and quality contributions to the architectural community, whether through design, education and research, or public service. Fairbanks, who was awarded with the AIA's Educator Award in 2015, will join the ranks of distinguished architects that make up only three percent of the AIA.
