On September 7, 2023, Rachel Narehood Austin, Barnard’s Diana T. and P. Roy Vagelos Professor of Chemistry was awarded the American Chemical Society (ACS) Award for Research at an Undergraduate Institution sponsored by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement. Recipients of the award will be honored at a ceremony hosted by the ACS on March 19, 2024.
The award was first established in 1984 and honors fundamental research that has led to important advancements in the sciences. It emphasizes the awardee’s dedication to supporting their undergraduate students and collaborators. As the recipient of this year’s award, Narehood Austin, a professor at Barnard since 2015, has been recognized as a chemistry faculty member whose research in an undergraduate setting over many years has both achieved wide recognition and contributed significantly to the field of chemistry and the professional development of undergraduate students.
