Sharon Fogarty is a Co-Artistic Director with Mabou Mines, an artist-driven experimental theater company. Her work with the company spans twenty years as a performer, director and producer. She wrote and directed an original music theater piece, Lucia's Chapters, inspired by the life of James Joyce's daughter Lucia. The production was nominated for five American Theater Wing - Hewes Design Awards and, on tour, was nominated for the Boston Globe's Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Visiting Production. Recently, she conceived and directed Finn, a large-scale animated and live action adventure based on the legend of Finn McCool at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts, New York University. She has produced many of Mabou Mines award-winning productions such as Belén - A Book of Hours, Red Beads, Mabou Mines DollHouse, and Song for New York. Directing credits outside of the company include Peter Weiss' Marat Sade, Brighde Mullin's Fire Eater and Sebastian Barry's White Woman Street. At Barnard Sharon directed Euripdes' Hippolytos and Bertolt Brecht's St. Joan of the Stockyards, translated by Paul Schmidt and with music by Daniel Moses Shreier.
Her teaching credits include New York University's Experimental Theater Wing, Colby College, ME, SITI Company, Voice & Vision at Bard College, in Ireland at the The Abbey Theater and for the Wexford Arts Council, ACT NOW in Vienna, Austria, and CAL State Summer Arts program as well as serving as mentor at Mabou Mines/Suite Resident Artist Program. She holds an MA from University College Dublin's Drama Centre and a BA from Emerson College in Boston, MA.
