The College announces Ruth J. Simmons as the Keynote Speaker for 2024 Commencement
Continuing with its tradition of excellence, the College admitted a remarkable 7% of applicants.
Continuing with another record-breaking year, the College admitted an unprecedented 6.5% of applicants.
With applications up 16% over last year, the College admitted just 8% of those who applied — and a record-breaking 66% identify as women of color.

In partnership with Bridgewater Associates, Barnard will recruit “New Pathways Bridgewater Scholars,” and will provide the training, exposure, and opportunities required to become workforce leaders.
The funding will support 30 Pell-eligible students and enable research on how to better help academically talented women from low-income families pursue undergraduate STEM degrees.
Barnard continues to attract diverse, smart, curious and driven young women from around the world, garnering 10,395 applications – a 10% increase over last year.

Barnard College surpassed its own record this year with 9,319 applicants, a 64% increase over the last five years. Of those applicants, 1,051 young women from around the world were accepted to the class of 2023, making it the most selective class ever admitted to the 129-year-old college.
